Never stop learning

These are the resources that helped me understand the importance of Nutrition and mindset to my health and wellbeing. It has been a combination of all I have learned and applied to my own day to day nutrition and practises that has gotten me to where I am today.

Remember no one person is the same as the next which is why it is important that you read and research for yourself.

I continue to research, read and understand what is good for my body and mind. I will continue to share these resources on this blog in hope that it will help others on their journey.

Books

Fork in the Road, by Dr Jen Unwinn – This book covers carbohydrate addiction and was a real eye opener for me.

Body on Fire, by Drs Monica Agrawal and Jyothi Rao – This book is about how Inflammation Triggers Chronic Illness and the Tools We Have to Fight It. Amazing read with so much to learn about our bodies and how nutrition has an affect on our health.

The Complete Guide to Fasting by Jason Fung MD and Jimmy Moore – The book is an amazing read and explains in details what Intermittent Fasting, how it works and the benefits people will see.

The Intermittent Fasting Revolution: The Science of Optimizing and Enhancing Performance, by Mark P Mattson. – If you want to understand the science behind intermittent fasting and the benefits this is a must read.

The Real Meal Revolution, by Prof Tim Noakes, Sally-Ann Creed, Jonno Proudfoot & David Grier – I gained a lot of understanding from this book around low carb and sugar eating plan and the benefits, also some great recipes.

The Obesity Code, Unlocking the secret of weight loss, by Jason Fung – This is a must read for anyone who has suffered with weight issues and continues to date with the vicious yoyo diet cycle. The science explaining why specific diets do not work is explain perfectly, and are backed up by human experimental studies over the years.

Reversing Type Two Diabetic’ by Prof Roy Taylor – This is a must read to find out the details around what causes type 2 diabetes and how to reverse it

Gut Health Reset, An Easy 4-week Plan to Help Beginners Restore their mind and microbiome, Lose weight and relieve stress, by Kara Holmes – I have had a lot of issues with gut health and this book clarified so much for me. It is simply explained and gives great advice of what to excluded from your diet to see the benefits from both a weight loss and health improvement perspective.

Delay, Don’t Deny:  Living an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle, by Gin Stephens – This book is such an easy read and gives you the high level breakdown of what Intermittent fasting is and the benefits achieve by real people.

Fast Feast Repeat, by Gin Stephens – This book goes into a little more detail on the benefits and workings of Intermittent fasting, It is more detailed from the original book ‘Delay, Don’t Deny’.

Spoon Fed, by Dr Tim Spector – There is so much conflicting information out there about what to eat, what is good for you and what is not. All driven my media, large businesses and the government but what is true and what is not. This book will open your eyes.

Lies my doctor told me, by Dr Ken Berry – This is a brilliant look into the medical myths that are told by well meaning doctors. The one thing you will get out of this book will be curiosity and the inclination to ask more questions of you GP before taking what they say as gospel.

The Blue Zone Solution, by Dan Buettner – This shows how to transform your health using smart nutrition, lifestyle, and fitness habits. This is based on longevity research on the diets, eating habits, and lifestyle practices of the communities. The areas identified as the blue zones have the longest-living, and healthiest, people, including locations such as Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California. Brilliant book to read if you want to tweak you own nutrition to find food that will work for your body.
